DAY 07: Explore Golden Temple and Wagah Border [B]
Today we will start our city tour by visiting Jalianwala Bagn, one of the most emotionally touching places in India. On April 13, 1919, the British troops massacred hundreds of innocent people in Amritsar where 10,000 men, women and children gathered to celebrate spring festival of Baisakhi. This massacre marked a turning point in India’s modern history, in that it left a permanent scar on Indo-British relations and was the prelude to Mahatma Gandhi’s civil disobedience campaign which led to India’s independence from Britain.

You will learn more about this meticulously organized ceremony from your expert guide.
We will continue our day tour to the famous Golden Temple, a central religious place of the Sikhs and a symbol of human brotherhood and equality. The Golden Temple architecture draws on both Hindu and Muslim artistic styles yet represent a unique coevolution of the two. With an interior decorated with gold and silver wooden panels, ivory carvings, and a dome with 1000 kg of pure gold.
Travelers from around the globe come to the Golden Temple to dip in the holy water for spiritual purification and to revere Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs which is continuously read aloud.
